Finding Bird Watching Clubs in US

Many people who enjoy bird watching like to do so in a group. There are many benefits of bird watching clubs in US. One benefit is of course the socialization. You will meet lots of people who share your birding interest. You may build casual friendships or even more long lasting ones that will last a lifetime. Another benefit to bird watching groups is that they provide a great learning experience. You will learn so much more in a group setting than you would on your own. This is because there are often bird watchers of all experience levels in the average group. If you are a new bird watcher you can learn a lot from the old pros.

There are clubs located in every state. For example, if you are in Virginia you can choose from the Cape Henry Audubon Society, Fairfax Audubon Society, Virginia Beach Audubon Society or the Richmond Audubon Society. As most bird watchers should already know, the Audubon Society is a respected and well-known name in the world of bird watching. The National Audubon Society has branches like the ones previously mentioned, all over the country. No matter which branch you join, you will find fun field trips, guest speakers, educational events, special events and more.

Depending on the size and population of your home state, you may have a few or a great number of clubs to choose from. Most people just go with the club that is in their local area. This is recommended because then you don't have to drive far to get to club events. Also, you are likely to live in the vicinity of other club members which makes attending and hosting social events easier. The reason so many friendships are forged in birdwatching clubs is because shared interests are a great way to build a relationship.

You can often find bird watching clubs in US by looking on the Internet. If you cannot find plenty of clubs this way, you may want to check with your local Chamber of Commerce. One alternative is to start your own bird watching club. When you start your own bird watching club you have more power over how the club operates. Of course, if you want an Audubon Society club you will need to check with the National Audubon Society to find out the rules and regulations.
